GOALS OF THE
KINDNESS CAMPAIGN IN ASHEVILLE FOR 2005
"Deeds of kindness are
equal in weight to all the commandments." - the
Talmud
1. Recruit one hundred volunteers
2. Increase hours for the Volunteer Coordinator (Cathy
Holt hired in October 2004 as part-time Volunteer Coordinator)
3. Circulate a minimum of 57,000 Kindness buttons
4. Hold annual Kindness Week (Scheduled for February
13-20, 2005)
5. Establish an annual Interfaith Celebration of Kindness
(Scheduled for February 15, 2005)
6. Give Community of Kindness Awards recognizing exemplary
acts of kindness by individuals and organizations
7. Help build one kind and safe neighborhood
8. Implement the Kindness Campaign’s Kind &
Safe Schools Program in six area schools
9. Ask local businesses to “adopt” four
schools to pay for the implementation of the KC Kind
& Safe Schools Program
10.Encourage increased aid and support to one group
of disadvantaged citizens
11.Team with RiverLink for river cleanups
12. Recruit twelve businesses, non-profits and churches
as Community Sponsors
13. Partner with citizens, organizations and agencies
to make Asheville the “Kindest City in America”
14. Secure Media Sponsors to help inform the public
of our programs and goals
15 .Receive at least four grants and $20,000 in individual
& corporate donations to help provide the Kindness
Campaign’s Operating Expenses
16. Organize six dialogue dinners to develop more understanding
and compassion for religious, racial or cultural differences
17. Create a Community Advisory Board (First meeting
held November 19, 2004)
