“Kindness gives birth to kindness.” –Sophocles, 447 B.C. The Kindness Campaign in Asheville would like your help! We are announcing a children's poster contest on the theme of kindness, with posters to be placed on display during "Kindness Week" (February 13-20). It's a great way for young artists to focus on an important theme and gain recognition for their imagination and talent. Contest Guidelines: 1) All artwork must be completed by Friday, February 4th. It will be picked up at the school's office on that day. 2) Please be sure the student’s name, grade, age, and phone number, teacher’s name, school name, and title of the poster are on the back and are legible. Please do not fold, mount, mat, laminate, or frame. 3) Size will be not larger than 11x17 inches. 4) All artwork must relate to the theme of kindness, which can include kindness to people, animals, or nature. Words or titles may be included in the artwork (optional). 5) It will be understood that the Kindness Campaign has the right to reproduce and display any entries submitted. 6) First and second place winners will be selected in several categories: grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and high school. 7) Winners will each receive a blue (first place) or red (second place) ribbon, and a Kindness button. Their photographs will be taken and they will receive news coverage. 8) Artwork will be displayed between February 14-20, in locations around Asheville, that will be well publicized. Please feel free to contact call Cathy Holt at 252-3054. We hope your students will participate! |
